15 Faits sur les Super Saiyan 3

15 Surprising Facts About Super Saiyan 3

The Super Saiyan 3 transformation is a unique form that requires dedication of considerable strength and much more from the warrior who wishes to deploy it. However, this form seems almost alien to the Saiyan race due to its many irregularities. There are only three characters who managed to obtain this form during the canonical episodes of the Dragonball saga (saga which will be distinguished by its character that is both exceptional and mediocre). 📺

Super Saiyan 3 (also written Super Sayen 3) is therefore one of the rarest and most powerful Saiyan forms in the entire Dragon Ball Z series, but do you really know all of its specificities? To find out, quickly discover the 15 Surprising facts about the Super Saiyan 3 to understand why this form is so unusual. 👀

15. SUPER SAIYAN 3 CONCEPTS

The Super Saiyan 3 form

The Super Saiyan 3 form went through quite a few design variations before being first revealed during the events of the Buu Saga . The most interesting of these concepts would also be the addition of a tail similar to Super Saiyan 4, which is shown in the anime Dragon Ball GT , when Son Goku returns to his child state against Baby Vegeta. 👶

When his design was almost complete, Toriyama had originally drawn the character with a hair length similar to Super Saiyan 2. But he eventually modified it to make this new transformation much more menacing by deciding to add the Raditz hairstyle . During this final stage of development, the decision not to add an eyebrow to her was thought to make her more intimidating than the previous Super Saiyan form and to help her stand out better from the rest. 🤨

14. MASTERY OF SUPER SAIYAN 2 FORM

Super Saiyan 2 form

Also known as the "Ascended Saiyan" , Super Saiyan 2 pushes characters beyond the power of an original Super Saiyan. If it wasn't already difficult enough to achieve this Super Saiyan 2 form, now they have to overcome new limits if they wish to achieve the Super Saiyan 3 form.

Goku learned how to transform into Super Saiyan 3 in Heaven but was unable to control his power on Earth, meaning he only had to transform a few times before doing so in a real-life situation in front of Majin Buu . Facing Majin Buu, Goku also used the previous two forms in an instant, demonstrating the prowess of the Super Saiyan and Super Saiyan 2 forms. 💥

13. WEAKNESSES OF SUPER SAIYAN 3 FORM

SSJ3 Weaknesses

Under normal conditions, the Super Saiyan 3 form proves very ineffective against powerful enemies such as Beerus or Majin Buu. Due to the physical abilities it pumps into its user, a Super Saiyan 3 tires quickly and has difficulty controlling its enormous power. 💥

While other Super Saiyan forms can be overpowered to alleviate this instability, Super Saiyan 3 is therefore quite wobbly under normal conditions. For these reasons, Goku will therefore prefer not to use the Super Saiyan 3 form unless he has no other solutions. 💪

12. SUPER SAIYAN 3 FIGHTS

Super Saiyan 3 Fights

The Super Saiyan 3 was introduced quite late in the Dragon Ball Z series , appearing during the last major saga of the series and only making a few appearances in Dragon Ball Super . Due to this limited screen time, there are far fewer battles where Super Saiyan 3 is the star of the episode, especially since his extreme energy consumption provides a fairly strict time limit. ⏳

During the Buu Saga, Goku was never able to defeat any of Buu's forms with Super Saiyan 3, although he came close on several occasions. In Dragon Ball Super, Beerus completely humiliated Goku SSJ3 in an infamously poorly animated battle, and never used it again to show off his power. The only victories this transformation has managed to achieve appear only in the films and games, mainly against Hirudegarn in Movie 13: Dragon Ball Z - Ryūken Explodes!! If Goku doesn't do it, who will ? 🎥

11. BROLY AND VEGETA SSJ3

Broly and Vegeta Super Saiyan 3

The original canonical Dragon Ball saga only features two characters using the Super Saiyan 3 form, which are Goku and Gotenks . But various video game adaptations have also brought us a ton of simulation scenarios to offer us longer use of this incredible form fortunately! In the video game Dragon Ball: Raging Blast , two fan favorite characters receive the transformation into Super Saiyan 3 , they are Broly and Vegeta for our greatest happiness! 🎮

Broly 's hair appears a slightly darker green and makes him appear even more intimidating than he already was. Vegeta appears with a mane similar to that of Goku SSJ3. Fans have always wondered why the Dragon Ball series liked to skip Vegeta 's transformations , because we have never seen him sport the form of Super Saiyan 3 or a Super Saiyan God unfortunately...

10. RADITZ SSJ3

Raditz SSJ3

If Raditz 's hair wasn't already long enough, his hair grows even faster in Super Saiyan 3 form . Moreover, his hair almost reaches the ground, which obviously cannot facilitate his movements during his fights, curious right? 😅

Raditz was shown to be more powerful than Piccolo and Goku when we first met him on Earth. In fact, Raditz was never seen in the DBZ saga in Super Saiyan 3 because he never achieved this form. It is largely true, however, that Raditz's hair grows longer during the Super Saiyan 3 form as this is demonstrated in Super Dragon Ball Heroes . 🎬

9. GOKU'S SSJ3 TRANSFORMATION

SSJ3 Goku Transformation

We know from seeing Goku in various episodes that he does not like transforming into a Super Saiyan 3. As a character who regularly changes his Super Saiyan form , Goku ultimately does not care too much about mastering the Super Saiyan 3 form as he could just as easily use Super Saiyan 2 and be faster as a result. 🏎

It also appears that Super Saiyan 3 was short-lived due to the introduction of Super Saiyan God and Super Saiyan God Blue . Super Saiyan 3 will therefore prove to be the most imperfect form of all Super Saiyans, but Goku will still use it in rare circumstances such as when he tried to gain time against Majin Buu. ⏳

8. GOKU SSJ3 VS JANEMBA

Goku vs Janemba

History shows that sometimes the Dragon Ball films are considered canon to the saga, but they are often ultimately removed because they conflict with the original television series. Dragon Ball Z: Fusion Reborn isn't canon either, but it's worth watching since Super Saiyan 3 makes a nice appearance. 🎥

In the film, the superhero Goku 's mastery in reaching the Super Saiyan 3 form was much better than when he fought against Majin Buu. To defeat Janemba , it was necessary to combine fusion and the Super Saiyan 3 form. But if you want the full story, don't hesitate to watch the full movie! 🎦

7. DRAGON BALL SD

Dragon Ball SD

Dragon Ball SD , like many other "SD" manga and comics, is actually a chibi version of the original story primarily aimed at younger readers. This shorter series covers the original Dragon Ball up to the later Dragon Ball Z and also approaches the story in a much more humorous way than the original series 😁!

During an event celebrating Saikyo Jump to mark its third anniversary, a few characters undergo a transformation into Super Saiyan 3 . These characters include Master Roshi, Krillin, Puar and Yamcha, in which they reveal the true power of the Kame House residents. 🐢

6. AKIRA TORIYAMA AND THE SSJ3 FORM

Akira Toriyama

For a while, Akira Toriyama kept thinking that the Super Saiyan 3 form was actually the Super Saiyan 2 form. But this actually wouldn't be the first time Akira Toriyama forgot something from his Dragon Ball series . 💭

The Super Saiyan 2 and Super Saiyan form are similar, but there is still a distinct difference in hairstyle, power level, and aura. A Super Saiyan 2 is surrounded by electricity. On another note, Akira Toriyama even forgot about the recurring character by noting it as "Launch". It’s possible that Toriyama won’t watch his series after all… 🤭

5. THE ORIGIN OF SUPER SAIYAN GOD

Super Saiyan God

Before the graphic appearance of the Super Saiyan God form was validated with his fiery red hair color, his design would initially have been much more simplistic, reusing the aesthetic codes of the Super Saiyan 3 form. The only main difference with the SSJ3 form should have been to give Goku a cape, which would have been quite a strange transformation, right?

The idea was ultimately scrapped as Super Saiyan 3 was an already disappointing form in the eyes of many fans, and a new form humbly titled "Super Saiyan God" would have to have a distinct and unique look to go along with his epics, it was obvious . 🙏

4. THE POWER OF SUPER SAIYAN 3

SSJ3 power

We know that the Super Saiyan 3 form is powerful and impressive, but did you know that the Super Saiyan 3 is 400 times more powerful than a base Saiyan? This is also one of the highest power ratios in the Dragon Ball universe. Besides, as Benjamin Parker would say (thanks Spider-man) :

“With great power comes great responsibility.”

Is not it ? Users of the Super Saiyan 3 form are therefore almost always on the safe side. How one controls their emotions and state of mind plays an important role in rising to the next level of a saiyan. As a form 400 times the base power level of a Saiyan, Super Saiyan 3 is therefore one of the most powerful forms we have ever seen so far in toei's DBZ saga animation. 💪

3. THE EYES OF GOKU SUPER SAIYAN 3

Eyes Goku SSJ3

All characters except Goku lose their pupils when they transform into Super Saiyan 3. Additionally, the color of his irises is more bluish in this form. It's a small detail of course, but it could have huge repercussions 😨!

There are several reasons as to why Super Warrior Goku has pupils in his Super Saiyan 3 form . To begin, it's worth noting that Goku first achieved the form in the afterlife (Heaven). Since he got it there, his pupils may have been affected. Additionally, as the first user of the Super Saiyan 3 form, Goku may have achieved a form above that of Super Saiyan 3 and was unaware of it. This topic is debatable, but it could be an irregularity in the animation of the Dragon Ball saga. 🔎

2. SUPER SAIYAN 3 FUTURE TRUNKS

Trunks of the Future SSJ3

Although it has a similar title, Super Dragon Ball Heroes is different from Dragon Ball Heroes . Both, however, are not considered canon to the original saga, but they should be due to the sheer number of Super Saiyan 3s they introduced. 💾

Vegeta, Broly , Raditz, Nappa, Bardock, Cumber, and Gohanks (fusion between Gohan and Trunks) are among the characters who have achieved the Super Saiyan 3 form in Super Dragon Ball Heroes . One of the most stylish remains that of Trunks of the Future SSJ3 , you will agree! As you can imagine, each transformation is really great and brings its share of eccentricity. For example, Nappa's beard grows when he becomes a Super Saiyan, but he still remains bald. 👨‍🦲

1. SUPER SAIYAN 3 FULL POWER

SSJ3 Full Power

First revealed in the Super Dragon Ball Heroes episode titled "Goku Resurrected!! The Clash Between Strongest and Strongest", the full-powered Super Saiyan 3 is a variation of the Super Saiyan 3 that does not have the disadvantages of the original form. The elimination of energy loss and body fatigue therefore makes the full-powered Super Saiyan 3 one of the most capable Super Saiyan forms. 💪

Unfortunately, Dragon Ball Heroes isn't considered a canonical Dragon Ball saga, but it doesn't hurt to theorize about what could be one of the saga's most powerful forms. The only known person to have reached full-power Super Saiyan 3 form is Cumber , a former Saiyan. 💥
