PICCOLO APPEARANCE
Piccolo is a tall and very muscular Namekian warrior. Although he strongly resembles his father or his former incarnation, he is significantly smaller than him and he is much thinner. His facial structure is slightly different with much less pronounced cheekbones. He also has a rounder chin and a straight nose. In the Dragon Ball manga , the Namekian only has four fingers with black claws, unlike the series and Dragon Ball Super where he this time has five fingers with white claws. 🤔
During his childhood, Piccolo Jr had clothes very similar to those worn by King Piccolo , with colors in shades of purple and dark blue.
As an adult, he wears a white turban and a long cape of the same color. This outfit is very heavy and Piccolo sees his strength increase each time he takes it off. His cape is in fact made of thick padding which is particularly visible during his confrontation against Frieza in his second form and also during a confrontation against Slug's minions.
As the series progresses, Piccolo's outfit changes slightly, with the Namekian adding some personal touches to his costume. Unlike the animated series, Piccolo wears a red obi instead of a blue one in the manga and some films. ☝
Even if during the Saiyan saga, Piccolo gets rid of his old symbol , he will however use the latter when making an outfit for Son Gohan, his student.
PERSONALITY
Throughout the saga, Piccolo's character and temperament remain more or less the same. He is shown as someone calm and relatively severe. The character rarely smiles and is a solitary person. The Namekian is indeed seen meditating on several occasions in isolated places and drinking ice water in the northern region . During his fights, he acts methodically and strategically, which allows him to quickly identify his opponent's weak points to take advantage of them. This peculiarity is even recognized by Baby during Dragon Ball GT , calling the Namekian one of the most brilliant fighters in the universe. 👊
At the end of Dragon Ball, Piccolo's goal is to eliminate Son Goku in order to wreak vengeance. He demonstrated his many evil properties at this time by resorting to extreme violence . His sadistic side is also highlighted when he breaks Son Goku's limbs. Despite his demonic heritage, he demonstrates a certain sense of honor, notably when he saves a mother and her daughter from the debris of a storm during the anime. Piccolo also demonstrates pragmatism when he allies himself with Son Goku, his sworn enemy during the arrival of Raditz .
Following the death of the Saiyan invader, his bad side began to gradually disappear and the moments spent with little Son Gohan only accelerated the process. During training with the latter, the Almighty and Mr. Popo were able to notice this change in personality. They also add that Piccolo is no longer the Demon King he once was. 👹
The total change in Piccolo's nature is made official during the fight against Nappa when he sacrifices himself in order to save Son Gohan's life. The Namek admits to Goku's son that he is happy that the latter does not see him as a monster and is thus proud to consider him as a friend. It is from this moment that Piccolo will become very protective of Gohan and he will continue to teach him his fighting techniques afterwards. It was also at this point in the story that the Namekian began to view Goku as his ally and friend .
Piccolo was willfully unaware of his alien origins for most of his life until one day he finally learned the truth. After learning of the genocide of his people, Piccolo vows to fight and defeat Frieza in order to avenge his fellow men. He learned a lot of information about the Nameks after merging with Nail.
Despite his severe behavior, Piccolo underwent a real change in temperament during the android saga after merging with the Almighty and thus obtaining new powers. ✨
Like all other Nameks, the concept of romance is completely unknown to him because the members of this people do not have romantic relationships.
As the sagas progress, Piccolo becomes more relaxed and cheerful. In Dragon Ball Super , his kindness is particularly highlighted, especially when he takes care of Pan, Son Gohan's daughter.
BIOGRAPHY OF PICCOLO
Piccolo Junior is his father's son/reincarnation, who appears at the end of Dragon Ball. He thus has his old memories and thus has the desire to take revenge on Son Goku by eliminating him. Piccolo also inherited Shenron's wish granting him eternal life . The Namekian warrior then trains for three long years in preparation for the next world martial arts tournament in order to be ready to face his rival. Once the day of the championship arrives, Piccolo, now a teenager, registers under the name Junior and passes the elimination phases very easily. The Namek manages to defeat Krillin very easily and almost kills him. The Turtle's disciple is then forced to abandon the match . 👎
During the next fight, Piccolo faces his double disguised for the occasion, the Almighty. The latter tries to lock the demon in a small bottle with the Mafuba technique but to everyone's surprise, Piccolo uses the Mafuba counter . The Almighty is then locked in a bottle which Piccolo hastens to swallow. It is now impossible to save the Almighty without killing Piccolo, which will lead to the death of both entities.
The Namekian ends up facing Son Goku in the finals and although he uses an array of new attacks, he has difficulty against the young Saiyan. When Piccolo considerably increases his size during the confrontation, Goku takes the opportunity to enter his enemy's throat in order to recover the bottle, thus allowing him to save the Almighty.
After surviving the meteor attack and Goku's Super Kamehameha , Piccolo, not wanting to repeat past mistakes, decides to break the Saiyan's four limbs.
Son Goku reverses the situation at the last moment by using the air dance technique for the first time and manages to knock out his opponent. Showing mercy and not wanting to lose a quality rival, the Saiyan gives Piccolo a Senzu bean in order to heal him. The Namek once standing, swears to obtain his revenge before leaving the tournament grounds.
SAGA OF THE SAIYENS
Following his defeat against Goku, Piccolo trains for five long years in order to wreak his vengeance. He ends up having a quick confrontation with Raditz , the invading Saiyan. The Namek realizes his helplessness against his adversary before the latter leaves the battlefield. Piccolo decides to follow Raditz which leads him to Kaméhouse, the house where Goku and his friends are located. It is here that he learns of his enemy's plan to destroy humanity. Raditz then leaves the scene after kidnapping little Gohan. Piccolo then decides to temporarily ally himself with Son Goku in order to fight the invader together. The two warriors then set off in pursuit of Raditz and quickly end up locating him. 👍
During the confrontation, Goku and Piccolo are completely dominated by Raditz and fail to touch the latter. The Namekian ends up losing his left arm following an attack from his opponent but affirms that he can continue the fight. He decides to use his secret technique, Makekosapo , while Goku keeps Raditz busy in battle. Once the attack is charged, Piccolo fires his energy shot which is immediately dodged by Raditz. After an intervention by Gohan, Goku's brother's power has dropped considerably and Piccolo decides to charge a new Makekosapo. Son Goku immobilizes Raditz and then decides to sacrifice himself , allowing Piccolo to kill the two Saiyans with his attack. The Namek thus manages to avenge his father. 💥
Having learned of the upcoming arrival of two new invaders within a year, Piccolo decides to kidnap Gohan in order to train him. The Namek has indeed noted the potential of the little Saiyan and wishes to exploit it in future clashes .
Piccolo then trains Son Gohan for a whole year, putting him through tests, each more difficult than the last. He also destroys the moon so that the next Saiyan invaders cannot transform into Giant Apes . The Namek then cuts off Gohan's tail and gives the latter new clothes and a sword. 🐵
When Vegeta and Nappa arrive on Earth, Piccolo is there to welcome them along with Gohan, Tenshinhan, Chaozu, Krillin and Yamcha. It is at this moment that he will learn of his Namekian origin. The group is quickly confronted by a team of six Saibaimen who are all reduced to dust despite the confrontation costing Yamcha his life.
Nappa then attacks, which quickly leads to the death of Tenshinhan and Chaozu.
The confrontation continues but Nappa seems impervious to the attacks of the Z Team fighters. A three-hour break is granted by Vegeta in order to wait for Goku. Piccolo takes the opportunity here to criticize Son Gohan's incompetence.
The Namek then remembers Raditz's weak point and decides to come up with a plan to seize Nappa's tail. Once the break is over, the fight resumes but Piccolo realizes that Nappa is completely immune to his handicap. For his part, Vegeta begins to sense Goku's energy as he approaches and orders Nappa to eliminate the remaining Earth defenders. Nappa decides to end it and eliminate Son Gohan to harm Goku. It is at this moment that Piccolo intervenes at the last moment in order to absorb the Saiyan's attack which was not intended for him. The Namek then bids farewell to Son Gohan before taking his last breath . Piccolo's death naturally leads to the disappearance of the Almighty.
SAGA FREEZER
Just like Son Goku did previously, Piccolo travels the path of the snake with Yamcha, Tenshinhan and Chaozu in order to train with the great Kaio. It is in this place that the power of Namek will considerably increase.
On the planet Namek, Gohan, Krillin, Dende and Bulma have gathered the Dragon Balls which makes the sacred dragon Porunga appear. Thanks to the first two wishes, Piccolo is brought back to life and teleported to the planet of his origins, which allows the Almighty to be resurrected on Earth. 🐲
Once on the planet Namek, Piccolo locates a large energy source and then comes across Nail who is dying. After confirmation that there will be no change in his personality, Piccolo decides to merge with Nail, which has the effect of considerably increasing his power tenfold. Stunned by his newfound power, the Namek then heads towards Frieza's location.
Once there, Piccolo discovers Vegeta, Krillin and Gohan busy confronting Frieza's second form. The Namek attacks and to everyone's surprise, he manages to dominate the galactic tyrant despite his weighted clothing. Vegeta is amazed at how powerful the Namekian is compared to what it was on Earth. For his part, Frieza changes into his third form and quickly paralyzes Piccolo with a barrage of energy shots. The Namek uses his last strength to deflect an attack that was intended for Gohan. Frieza then uses his final form and completely dominates the Z Team. Dende treats Piccolo with his healing powers but the little Namek is then eliminated by Frieza in retaliation. After the arrival of Goku and following the death of Vegeta, Piccolo, totally helpless, can only observe the final fight from afar. ✨
During the confrontation, Goku sends a Genkidama on Frieza and leaves him for dead. The Saiyan's body then falls into a lake but is fished out by Piccolo.
Once the final confrontation is over, Piccolo refuses to live the boring and peaceful life of his fellow Nameks and decides to return to Earth to continue his training while keeping an eye on Gohan.
SAGA CELL
At the very beginning of the saga, Piccolo is confronted by Doctor Géro whom he quickly manages to dominate. At the same time, C19 is eliminated by Vegeta in his Super Saiyan form, forcing C20 to flee. The members of the Z Team search for the fugitive in the hills but Piccolo is surprised by Doctor Géro who immobilizes him and begins to drain his energy. The Namek sends a message to Gohan telepathically and is thus saved by the latter.
Piccolo is quickly healed thanks to a senzu bean and rushes to beat Doctor Géro, thus proving that his power is at least equivalent to that of the Super Saiyans. Trunks from the future appears and declares that C19 and C20 are not the androids he knew in his time. During this explanation, Doctor Géro finds an opportunity and manages to flee after indicating that he was going to activate the cyborgs C17 and C18 . ☝
Some time later after the activation of the latter, the Z Team fighters find the trace of the cyborgs and Vegeta finds himself confronted in a fight against C18. Even if the Prince of Saiyans seems to dominate the situation at first glance, Piccolo quickly notices that the cyborg does not tire compared to his opponent. After Vegeta's defeat, the Namek charges C17 with Trunks but the two warriors are immediately beaten.
After the androids leave, Krillin gives Senzu Beans to his friends in order to restore them. Piccolo begins to develop a new plan and that's when he receives a telepathic message from the Almighty. He then understands that the latter wants to merge with him. Reluctant at first but having understood that the cyborgs are much more powerful than expected, Piccolo then proceeds with the ritual and the fusion of the two Nameks gives birth to a nameless warrior who is neither Piccolo nor the Almighty . The new warrior still decides to keep the name Piccolo as his appellation. 😎
The Namekian warrior rushes to Ginger Town where he meets Cell who claims to be his brother and who claims to be the combination of Earth's best warriors. Piccolo refuses to believe this information until his opponent uses a Kamehameha, Goku's technique, during the fight. Having Piccolo's cells , Cell also has the ability to change his destroyed cells. The evil cyborg reveals his plan to absorb androids 17 and 18 in order to achieve his perfect form. Trunks and Krillin then arrive on the scene and Cell, now outnumbered, uses the sun's bite to dazzle those around him to escape.
The Z Team fighters then search the planet to find Cell, because the latter's power only increases.
Piccolo and his companions eventually return to Kamehouse and are later joined by C17 and C18 who demand Goku's location. Piccolo decides to lure the cyborgs to the tropical islands to confront C17 . Both fighters are equally strong but are suddenly located by Imperfect Cell who is now much more powerful than last time.
Piccolo tries to save C17 but has his neck broken by Cell. The evil cyborg then cuts a hole in the Namekian's stomach and throws his body into the ocean . Thanks to his regenerative abilities, Piccolo manages to survive and is then saved by Son Goku. For its part, Celle imperfect managed to absorb C17, thus increasing its power tenfold.
The saga continues and Cell eventually absorbs C18, allowing him to achieve his perfect form. It is at this moment that the evil cyborg decides to organize the Cell Games in 10 days. The defenders then have no choice but to use this delay to prepare for the upcoming tournament. After giving a copy of his uniform to Son Gohan, Piccolo leaves for the new planet of Namek to bring back a new guardian for Earth. The position is assigned to Dende who immediately reactivates the Dragon Balls. On the day the Cell Games begin, Piccolo stands aside for the vast majority of the time, observing the fight between Goku and his opponent. When the Saiyan passes the baton to Gohan, the Namek responds that it is a bad idea and that Gohan does not have enough power to defeat Cell . Piccolo issues a new justified criticism when Goku gives a Senzu to his opponent, claiming to want a fair fight. 👌
In the middle of the confrontation, Cell decides to attack Gohan's friends in order to arouse the latter's anger. He then summons the Cell Juniors who immediately attack the members of the Z Team. Piccolo manages to stand up to his enemies just like Vegeta and Trunks but are ultimately dominated. Son Gohan then transforms into Super Saiyan 2 and gets rid of all the Cell Juniors in a few seconds. At the end of the saga, Piccolo witnesses the sacrifice of Son Goku and witnesses Gohan's victory over Cell, thanks to the Kamehemeha father son .
MAJIN BUU SAGA
When Piccolo learns that Goku is going to return to Earth for a day to participate in the world martial arts championship, he immediately decides to register. It is during this tournament that he will meet Shin and against whom he will decide to abandon the fight after he learns of the latter's divine origins. Piccolo indeed learns that it is the Supreme Kaio of Universe 6. 😅
During the match between Gohan and Kibito, Goku's son's energy is suddenly drained by two mutants who immediately flee. Piccolo sets off in pursuit with Shin, Goku, Vegeta and the others. The small group then comes across the sorcerer Babidi and Dabra the king of demons with whom he teams up. The latter instantly kills Kibito and then spits on Piccolo and Krillin, which has the effect of changing them into stone statues.
Once Majin Buu awakens, Piccolo regains his appearance with the help of his regenerative abilities. Seeing that Shin is about to be turned into chocolate, Piccolo's instinct pushes him to save the Supreme Kaio even though he knows full well that he is not able to defeat Buu.
Shin is eventually saved by Vegeta and Piccolo has no choice but to watch the fight from behind. In the middle of the confrontation, Piccolo spots Babidi and decides to attack him. He easily manages to cross the latter's magical barriers. Piccolo decides to put an end to it and cuts the evil wizard in two and leaves him to die on the ground. The Namek then watches Vegeta knock out Goten and Trunks. The prince of the Saiyans orders him to take the children far away from the battlefield. Piccolo thus understands that the Saiyan intends to sacrifice himself . Vegeta asks if he will be able to see Goku after his death but the Namek tells him that this will not be possible due to the bad deeds he has done in his life. Piccolo then walks away with the children and Krillin just as Vegeta sacrifices himself in a powerful explosion. Once the smoke settles, Piccolo hands Goten and Trunks over to Krillin to inspect the battlefield. 💥
The Namek realizes that Majin Buu has survived and decides to flee, taking refuge in the Almighty 's residence with his companions.
In order to find a solution to defeat Buu, Goku decides to teach the fusion technique to Goten and Trunks. Piccolo then learns the dance steps so he can eventually teach the children the technique once Goku returns to Heaven. Babidi, who survived, decides to contact the Earthlings telepathically and demands the location of Piccolo, Trunks and Goten within five days. Shortly after and in order to save his friends time, Goku confronts Majin Buu and takes the opportunity to reveal his Super Saiyan 3 form . He then flees after Babidi's death and decides to return to the divine sanctuary. Piccolo thinks that Buu will become peaceful without the evil wizard's orders. ✨
In the days that follow, the Majin continues its carnage on the planet for the sole purpose of having fun while Trunks and Goten learn the fusion technique. Goku must finally return to the other world and leaves it to Piccolo to continue teaching fusion . Piccolo then accepts his mission and corrects the children's bad dance steps in order to reduce mistakes. Trunks and Goten, after two failed attempts, finally succeed in forming a single being, Gotrunks. The latter immediately transforms into a Super Saiyan and decides to evaluate his potential. He then wastes a lot of time demonstrating his speed by making numerous trips around the world. The fusion, which cannot last more than thirty minutes , ends when Piccolo joins Goten and Trunks who separate without having confronted Buu.
For his part, Buu has transformed into Super Buu and his power is now increased tenfold. He then arrives at the Sanctuary with the intention of killing Goten and Trunks. Piccolo understands that the children will have to train to defeat the Majin and decides to bring them into the time room. ⌛
The Namek then begs Buu to please wait an hour and the latter reluctantly agrees. After about thirty minutes, the Majin begins to lose patience and demands to be taken to his adversary. Piccolo then accompanies Super Buu to the time room , taking his time while sending a telepathic message to Goten and Trunks to let them know of his imminent arrival with Buu. The Namek also has a backup plan: in case things go wrong, he plans to destroy the door to the Time Room in order to lock away the Majin and himself for eternity. The fight finally begins but Buu seems unresponsive to Gotrunks ' numerous attacks and techniques . The latter then thinks that everything is lost and Piccolo therefore decides to destroy the door to the time room forever. Realizing that he will never be able to eat sweets again in his life, Super Buu then lets out a shrill cry so powerful that it creates an interdimensional portal through which he immediately escapes from the room. Gotrunks and Piccolo then try to use the same trick to leave the scene but in vain. To the Namek's surprise, Gotrunks transforms into Super Saiyan 3 and thus manages to create a portal.
Once back at the divine sanctuary, the two fighters realize that Buu has devoured all their friends who were in the area. Gotrunks explodes with anger and thus decides to fight seriously. The confrontation that follows is so violent that it quickly destroys the divine sanctuary. Gotrunks then asks Piccolo to assist him in an attack to injure Buu after he was trapped in a volleyball thanks to the fused warrior's Galactic Donuts . Just as Super Buu is about to get pulverized, the fusion ends, returning Goten and Trunks to their respective appearances. Understanding that there is no longer any hope, Piccolo prepares to experience his final battle against an adversary who surpasses him by far. 👊
Son Gohan , stronger than ever, arrives on the battlefield and saves the situation at the last moment, completely dominating Majin Buu. The latter, furious, triggers an explosion of energy and decides to hide his ki in order to be forgotten by his new opponent. Gohan, who can now be called Ultimate Gohan , explains to Piccolo the training he did in the world of Kaioshins. A few moments later, the small group goes looking for Dende, whom they end up finding as well as Monsieur Satan .
Super Buu reappears but demands to fight Gotenks. The members of Z Team accept the challenge but once Gotenks appears, the latter is immediately absorbed by Buu. Piccolo is also absorbed, which gives the Majin new power and increased intelligence . Even if the Namek is spat out much later thanks to the intervention of Vegeto, the fusion of Goku and Vegeta, he will die with the rest of the inhabitants of the planet when Kidd Buu destroys the Earth with an attack destructive.
Earth's population is finally resurrected towards the end of the saga thanks to the Dragon Balls as Goku attempts to create a massive Genkidama in an attempt to defeat Buu. Piccolo helps the Saiyan with the others by offering him his energy which allows him to defeat the Majin. 💀
Once Buu's saga is over, we can see Piccolo one last time as he attends a party taking place at Bulma's house.
THE POWER OF PICCOLO
Piccolo is the most powerful Namekian fighter in Universes 6 and 7. It is stated in the series that he is one of the strongest warriors of his race and is capable of competing with Super Saiyans . In addition to his talent for combat, Piccolo twice managed to be the strongest fighter on Z Team, notably by merging with other Nameks ( Nail and the Almighty ). He begins to have trouble keeping up with Goku and Vegeta starting in the Majin Buu saga. However, his power remains far superior to other members of the Z Team such as Tenshinhan or Krillin. Piccolo is also capable of inflicting heavy damage on enemies more powerful than him, particularly thanks to his piercing Makenkosapo technique . 💥
At the very beginning of Dragon Ball Z, Piccolo's power is estimated at 322 units but can rise up to 408 when he removes his training clothes. Although his level is much lower than that of Raditz, Piccolo still managed to surpass him by accumulating enough energy during Makekosapo, increasing his power to 1330 . A year later, when Vegeta and Nappa arrive on Earth, Piccolo's level this time rises to 3500 units.
Despite the quality of his training and the help of Krillin and Gohan, he still fails to surpass Nappa.
The Namek's power increased significantly during the Frieza Saga as it surpassed Vegeta's after merging with Nail. Piccolo thus dominates Frieza in his second form with more than a million units . A little later and thanks to the energy of his allies (Gohan and Krillin), the Namekian warrior is able to stand up to Frieza's final form when he tries to contain the latter to allow Son Goku to form a Genkidama . ✨
Piccolo's strength increases again after his training in preparation for the arrival of the Androids. He is capable of dominating Doctor Géro and Krillin even adds that the Namek has reached a level equivalent to the Super Saiyans. After his fusion with the Almighty , Piccolo is one of the most powerful warriors of Z Team, thus surpassing C17 and is able to defeat Imperfect Cell. A little later in the saga and exclusively in the anime, the Namek is able to stand up to and injure the Cell Juniors .
At the beginning of the Majin Buu saga, Piccolo is paralyzed by fear when facing Shin due to his divine status. Its power is high enough to cross the magical barriers of the sorcerer Babidi and break them. The Namek thus manages to defeat his enemy by cutting him in two.
Although Piccolo is stronger than Trunks and Goten, he is not powerful enough to compete with Majin Buu and will settle for a training role throughout this saga.
PICCOLO’S ATTACKS AND POWERS
Eternal youth : thanks to a wish made to Shenron, Piccolo gained immortality, he is thus immune to old age and illness.
Regeneration : like all Nameks, Piccolo has the ability to regenerate one or more parts of his body. Its destroyed cells can be replaced by new ones.
Demon Hand : Using his Namek Cells, Piccolo can grow his arm, allowing him to grab targets from a distance that are out of reach.
Healing : A technique for healing someone else's wounds in order to restore some energy. This ability is exclusively used in the anime.
Explosive Demonic Wave: Piccolo fires a powerful energy wave with the palm of his hand extended towards the opponent.
Dust Attack: this is the same attack as the previous one but this variant is much less powerful. It therefore requires less energy from the user.
Light Grenade : Piccolo brings his hands together in front of him to generate a ball of yellow energy. He then propels the sphere forward towards his target, dealing heavy damage on contact.
Makekosapo : Piccolo touches his forehead using his index and middle fingers in order to charge his ki. The charging speed and its power depend on the level of the user. Once the energy is charged, Piccolo fires a powerful devastating piercing beam towards his enemy. This technique requires a lot of energy to be effective, which prevents the Namek from using it several times.
Masenko : The user places both hands above their head and fires a powerful energy blast towards their opponent. Piccolo taught this technique to Son Gohan and both fighters can perform it as a duo.
Zoned Grenades : Piccolo charges his energy and then fires several energy spheres towards his opponent. These aim to surround the target and then fall on it, inflicting a large amount of damage.
Rapid fire : the Namek charges energy spheres in the palms of his hands and fires them one after the other towards his enemy with a sustained rate.
Doppelganger : Piccolo can clone himself to create identical doubles. This technique is very useful for fighting in groups.
Demon Rend : Piccolo begins by punching his opponent in the face and follows with a powerful knee strike to the stomach. The Namek continues with a series of kicks and finishes by grabbing his enemy with his outstretched arm in order to finish him off.
Antenna Beam : Piccolo fires an electric shock from his antennae located on his skull.
Eye Flash : Similar to the sun bite technique. Piccolo blinds his enemy with a flash of light from his eyes.
Eye Laser : Piccolo fires two energy lasers from his eyes
Explosive wave : the user charges his ki and lets it burst in order to push back nearby opponents while destroying his environment.
Afterimage : The user moves so quickly that they leave multiple images of themselves behind.
Telekinesis: This technique allows Piccolo to manipulate nearby objects and people using the force of his mind.
Telepathy: Piccolo has the ability to mentally communicate remotely with those around him using the power of his mind.
SOME ANECDOTES:
- The term Piccolo is a play on words referring to a flute of the same name. It is for this reason that his descendants and other family members are named after musical instruments . It is stated in the series that his name means "another world" in the Namekian language. 🌎
- The name "Piccolo" also means "small" in Italian, which is contradictory to the size of the Namek. Piccolo is indeed one of the tallest characters in the series.
- During an interview with Akira Toriyama , the latter states that Piccolo is his favorite character in the series. He later contradicts himself during another interview where he refers to Son Goku as his favorite.
- Piccolo was the trainer of all of Son Goku's descendants. He indeed trained Son Gohan during the Saiyan saga and Son Goten during the Majin Buu saga. The Namek also took care of Pan, Goku's granddaughter.
- During Dragon Ball Z, Piccolo was Z Team's strongest fighter on two occasions. He notably surpassed everyone during the Frieza Saga after merging with Nail . He even surpassed Vegeta's Super Saiyan form during the Cell Saga after merging with the Almighty .
- Piccolo was born on Piccolo Day, a date made a holiday by his father. He was also born on the same day as his older brother Drum.
- The color of his blood changes depending on the sagas. When he loses his arm during his confrontation with Raditz, his blood is red in color. Much later in the series we can see him bleeding a purple substance. Finally, he bleeds green blood in Dragon Ball Super. 🤔
- Like all Nameks, Piccolo feeds mainly on water and his favorite food is the icy water of the northern region.
- Piccolo is the first villain to succeed in taking revenge on Son Goku. He thus avenges King Piccolo by eliminating Goku as well as Raditz with his Makekosapo technique.
