CONCEPT & CREATION OF MORO
Moro was designed by Toyotarō . He was created with the intention of appearing as a being embodying evil, in such a way that the reader could not imagine becoming good one day (as it was in Dragon Ball with King Piccolo) . It is based on and inspired by Western demons , particularly those that resembled goats. It is also partially based on the Reaper. 🐐
“Moro” is a regional Japanese word for shark chop (sometimes topped with vegetables boiled in soy sauce) and is probably its original name. The name Moro may also be a reference to the Canaanite deity Moloch or the personification of impending doom and destruction in Greek mythology named Moros .
MORO APPEARANCE
Moro appears as a large humanoid goat with blue skin and two horns on the sides of his head, which curl to point forward near his cheeks. He has long pointed ears, long dark nails, and tufts of fur on his shoulders. Its muzzle has a light blue color with distinct linings on each side of its muzzle . He also became quite muscular and his beard shrunk to reach his collarbone. MORO’S PERSONALITY
Moro has no respect for life and people in general. Rather, he views them all as food for his pleasure and mocks people who try to stop him. He is a very deceptive and manipulative character, having used Cranberry to help restore his power, eliminating him immediately after he outlived his usefulness, as well as feigning his weakness until he was able to absorb enough energy from Vegeta to defeat him . Moro destroyed the Iragi star system and caused the mass extinction of life on 320 planets . During his fight against the Grand Supreme Kai and the South Supreme Kai, Moro used his magic to bombard the Supreme Kais with his comets. By absorbing life energy from a nearby planet, Moro condenses the energy into a ball and will eat it, causing his strength to grow even more. In the end, Grand Supreme Kai uses his divine power and successfully seals Moro's magic where he is subsequently imprisoned by the Galactic Police. He is sentenced to death but no one is strong enough to end his life, so he remains locked away for the next 10 million years. 🚔
MORO IN DRAGON BALL SUPER
SAGA OF THE GALACTIC PATROL PRISONERS
A few years before the end of DBS: Broly Saga , and after the destruction of Kid Boo by Goku, the seal of the Grand Supreme Kai made with Moro's magic was broken. This will allow him to escape the Galactic Patrol from the prison. He escaped on a spaceship with Cranberry and headed to New Namek in order to obtain the Crystal Balls . Moro then defeats Vegeta and Goku, leaving them for dead, and sets off to find the other Dragon Balls. Moro heads to a Namekian village where he begins torturing and killing some of the villagers in order to obtain information about a Dragon Ball. He casually kills a Namekian warrior, demonstrating his increased power, and retrieves the ball. Now with six in his possession, he heads towards the final area where the two acolytes are located. He confronts Goku and Vegeta again, but Merus interrupts them. When he fights Merus, he is caught off guard by Merus and is temporarily trapped, but is enraged and breaks free when he senses the presence of the Grand Supreme Kai in Majin Boo. ✨
Luckily for Moro, Cranberry was able to finish collecting the Namekian crystal balls. Moro quickly asks Cranberry to use his second wish to restore his full magical power. When Vegeta vows to destroy him, Moro reminds them that they forgot his third wish. It is revealed that the wish was that every prisoner in the Galactic Prison will be released. 😲
Afterwards, the prisoners board a spaceship led by Saganbo and head to New Namek to be at Moro's side. Moro will congratulate Saganbo and, as promised, share his power with all the prisoners, giving them significant powers. As the prisoners fight Goku, Vegeta, and the Grand Kai Supreme, Moro begins absorbing energy from his opponents and the planet once again. Goku asks why he is doing all this and Moro responds by telling him that he wants to create an ideal galaxy where he would be free to consume planets. Later, Saganbo informs him that they received a distress signal from the Macareni Brotherhood. Moro, believing the inhabitants might be strong, asks Saganbo to send a stronger reconnaissance group to check it out, claiming he will devour the planet if it turns out to be good . After Shimorekka contacts Saganbo with information about the situation on Earth, Moro learns that Seventhree had already used her abilities. Moro is surprised to see how much Earth has evolved over the past ten million years and that it is home to warriors even more powerful than his men. After hearing that Goku and Vegeta are training to defeat him , Moro asks Saganbo to order his men to stand down believing that he will be able to draw more energy from them later. He vows to consume the two Saiyans when they return with Earth. 👊🏻
Soon after, Moro senses Vegeta's new power after dispatching Yuzun. Delighted, Moro vows to improve himself and reach the limits of his power before traveling to Earth, wondering if he even had limits. Over the next two months, it devours even more planets across the galaxy. After heading to Earth, his henchmen scatter across the planet to steal its treasures. Moro watches his men struggle in their confrontation with the Dragon Team, ridiculing them for failing to meet even his lowest expectations and wonders which warrior he will devour first. 😮
The ship descends to the ground and as Android 17 nearly finishes off Seventhree, Moro arrives, grabbing Seventhree by the head. He will tell him that he shouldn't have used his abilities so casually, and then throws him to Shimorekka and tells her to help him recover, because he will use him again. As Saganbo joins Moro, Piccolo and Gohan point out Moro's terrifying power. Moro notes that the other two Saiyans are not there, but Gohan explains that they will come and that they are responsible for protecting Earth in their absence. In a good mood due to the amount of high-energy individuals there are on Earth, Moro wonders how best to go about consuming them. Goku, in his Super Saiyan Blue form, yells at Moro to stop and gets in on the action with a powerful attack, but Moro easily blocks it. Meanwhile, Saganbo, having reached his limit, dies from his tension resulting from Moro, mocking him for not being able to resist the mass of energy he had given him. When Goku asks if Saganbo was meant to be a friend, Moro tells him that he was just a soldier and could collect more. ⚡
GOKU VS MORO
As Goku now prepares to face Moro , he transforms with Ultra Instinct, shocking Moro who realizes that the technique is that of the gods. Moro then squeezes Goku's head and throws him onto a rock. Wondering why Goku seemed to be in such a hurry and why he hadn't used this mystical state the whole time against Saganbo, Moro realizes that Goku cannot maintain the State for long. After Goku returned to his feet and his powers returned to form, indicating that Moro had stalled until Goku's Ultra Instinct wore off due to Moro not being confident in fighting against full power of the saiyan, Moro finds himself intrigued and ready for more. 🥋
The two brute forces reach full power and continue to fight, appearing to be an even match until Goku knocks Moro down, at which point, after getting back up, Moro admits that he had been too careful earlier and didn't won't lose to Goku. if that is the true extent of his power. When he attempts to absorb Goku's energy, C-17 and C-18 intervene and Moro is impressed that the planet is capable of creating artificial life forms. While the two androids fail to leave much damage on Moro, Vegeta finally returns to Earth. Moro boasts that he has become too powerful and is tired of fighters being unable to match him. Vegeta transforms into his evolved Super Saiyan God SS form and then charges at Moro. 😡👊🏻
VEGETA VS MORO
At first, Moro has little trouble fighting Vegeta, but as the fight continues, Vegeta reveals the fruits of his training on Yardrat, including the assimilation of his new technique, "Forced Fission of the spirit". When Vegeta returns, Moro easily escapes his attacks . He then grabs Vegeta by the neck and copies his abilities. Moro fights around Vegeta before finishing him off with a Big Bang Attack. Gohan and Piccolo attack Moro in unison and distract him long enough for Gohan to trap him using Gotenks' Galactic Donut's technique.
Goku, now revamped into Super Saiyan Blue, performs an instant Kamehameha, but it only destroys Moro's left arm. Moro's arm quickly regenerates and he drives it straight through Goku's chest, informing everyone that he has access to all of his cyborg's powers and abilities with no time limit. Gohan finally snaps and attacks Moro, but is unable to make him flinch before he is punched in the face, losing several of his teeth, knocked unconscious as a result. 🦷
Dende telepathically contacts Piccolo and tells him his planned plan, but Piccolo realizes that Moro can also hear him. Not wanting anyone to interfere, Moro erects a barrier that prevents anyone from entering or leaving. Moro proceeds to destroy Android 17 and 18 and, using the barrier to his advantage, Piccolo attempts an attack but, before he has the chance to unleash it, he is shot down by a Special Beam Cannon fired by Moro leaving Jaco alone. Moro then walks towards Jaco, telling him that his limited energy is of no use to him. MERUS VS MORO
Moro then notices that the culprit is Merus and that he knows that the latter is not really a member of the Galactic Patrol. Noticing that the fallen Dragon Team warriors have been transported elsewhere, Moro dispels the barrier surrounding the area . Merus then confronts Moro in order to buy time for Goku and his friends to be healed and Moro soon realizes that Merus was a form of deity. Moro holds his own in battle but senses that Merus is still holding back his true power, wondering why. 👀
After Goku returns, he quickly resumes battle against the villain so that Merus does not have to risk breaking his code of conduct and suffering the consequences. Goku is unable to land a single blow on Moro who asks why he thinks he would succeed now when he has already failed once before, and easily knocks him down. Moro attempts to grab Merus by the neck in order to copy his abilities, but upon summoning his angel staff, he severs Moro's arm , although it still regenerates quickly. Merus then decides to use his true powers as an angel in order to seal Moro's copying ability. Merus easily overwhelms Moro as he destroys the two orbs on Moro's palms followed by the orb on his forehead before disappearing, confiding in Goku his infatuation with protecting the galaxy he has grown to love. 🌍
Upon Moro's return, Goku informs him that Merus has now passed away and that he will have to take on the job himself when he enters the Autonomous Ultra Instinct state. The sight of Goku's new form disturbs Moro and he attempts to fire an energy blast at him but is stopped by Goku before he gets the chance. Moro attempts to strike Goku, but each of his attacks is either blocked or dodged. In a fit of rage, Moro uses all of his power but is unable to close the gap, even when he resorts to using the planets' own energy as a weapon and later attempts to consume the energy of other planets . 🪐
Moro is sent into a rock by Goku, with a large chunk breaking off from the impact and pinning Moro underneath. Not even having the energy to move the rock on his own, Moro begins to beg for his life. Goku destroys the rocks and takes the Senzu Bean from the newly arrived Krillin, offering to spare him if he promises to return to the Galactic Prison and never escape again. Moro hastily accepts his offer and eats the bean. 🌟
However Moro lies to Goku and immediately attacks him only to break his arm. Goku calls him a coward and returns to his normal self, asking Moro if he has ever trained before. When Moro says he didn't do it because it's a method for the weak, Goku says it's a shame because he could have become stronger from the training he never did instead spending his time eating planets and would have liked to get the opportunity to fight with him again. Goku charges forward in an attempt to destroy the crystal but Moro is able to stop his momentum using several other arms and drains Goku's power enough to return him to his normal state. 🔌
All hope seems lost, as Moro's mind begins to decay from the amount of energy flowing through him and now moments away from detonating and taking the galaxy with it. As Moro absorbs Goku's life, a huge ball of divine power appears. This is transmitted from Vegeta to Goku, allowing him to reintegrate the Autonomous Ultra Instinct but this time also manifests an ethereal avatar made entirely of energy in the form of Goku, even more imposing than Moro. This avatar dominates Moro. With a single powerful punch, he shatters the crystal. Moro's body collapses before being consumed by a massive explosion, finally killing him once and for all. 👊🏻💥
MORO TECHNIQUES
